 Getting to Know Warwick

Q: Where is Warwick?

The University of Warwick is located near Coventry, UK, northwest of London about 1 hour by train. To get a better idea, take a look at this map.

Q: How many divisions are within the School of Engineering at Warwick?

The School of Engineering has three divisions. 1) Warwick Manufacturing Group [WMG]; 2) Division of Civil and Mechanical Engineering; 3) Division of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Q: Is the Regional Office an agent working for Warwick?

The Regional Office is not an agency. We are an office of the School of Engineering, and report directly to admission offices in the UK. Offer and rejection letters for WMG are issued from this office. For more information please see the page About Us.

  Applying to Postgraduate Engineering

Q: Where can I obtain the application forms?

Please go here for up-to-date forms for WMG postgraduate courses.

Q: What is the application fee?

Please see our page for application fees.

Q: What is the application deadline?

There is no official application deadline. However, we strongly advise students to apply before June in order to be guaranteed on-campus accommodation.

Q: How long does it take to process my postgraduate application?

For students applying to WMG courses and who have sent their applications directly to the Regional Office, we will reply to your application with an offer or rejection within one month in most cases. WMG applications sent to the UK will take substantially longer to reply as materials may need to be forwarded back to the Regional Office for handling.

The processing times for all other courses, including those under Civil & Mechanical Engineering; Electrical & Electronic Engineering; and undergraduate courses, is normally about 2 months but are dependent on the processing rates for each respective department.

Q: What exams are used to meet the English language requirement for international students?

We accept either the IELTS or TOEFL. Verbal scores on the GRE or GMAT cannot be used to fulfill the English language requirement. You may also wish to reference our English Language Requirement.

Q: I received my undergraduate degree from an English speaking country, do I still need to meet the English Language Requirement?

Students who have studied in an English speaking country (including U.S.A., Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, etc.) for at least 2 years, with English as the primary teaching medium, may be exempted from the English Language Requirement.

Q: How should I post or courier my application to your office?

We have found that applications sent via EMS is the most efficient method to Hong Kong.  Students using other courier services should include our phone number

(852) 2317 1417 on the package.

  Receiving Your Offer Letter

Q: What does it mean if I received a Conditional Offer of Acceptance?

A Conditional Offer of Acceptance means that we have offered you a place at Warwick in the course you applied, but only if you fulfill the condition(s) stated on the offer. Failure to meet the stated requirement(s) may disqualify you from attending Warwick.

Q: Should I wait and mail the Green Card with my full transcript?

Yes, you should mail the Green Card together with your full transcript, degree and graduation certificates as soon as it becomes available.

Q: When should I apply for my visa to the UK? Can I apply for a visa with the conditional offer letter?

To apply for the visa, you can either bring with you the Unconditional Offer or the Conditional Offer (with supporting documents proving you have met our conditions). You may wish to consult the British Embassy on the appropriate time to apply for the student visa.
