Q:  What is the admission requirement for the scholarships?

A:   Students from China or Hong Kong must have already accepted an offer onto one of the MSc courses offered by Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) for 2007/2008 academic year before they can register in the scheme and to apply for the scholarships.

Q:  What are the selection criteria for the scholarships? Academic performance?

A:    Selection is made by the WMG Scholarship Selection Committee together with the donors.  Students may be required to attend interviews (in person, by phone or via internet) and / or to submit further supporting documents.  Factors like academic performance, majors, personal interest and communication skills will also be considered.

Q:  Do the recipients of scholarship have to sign any employment contracts with the donors?

A:     There are four types of scholarships available:

1)  Scholarship only

2)  Scholarship + Signing letter of intent

3)  Scholarship + Signing employment contract with the Donor¡¦s company to work  at least 3 months after graduation

4)  Scholarship + Signing employment contract with the Donor¡¦s company to work at  least one/two years after graduation

Nevertheless, all students must pass the MSc course in the first Board of Examiners for the receipt of the scholarships.

Q:    Do I work in Hong Kong or in China?

A:     Most of the donor¡¦s enterprises have factory plants in China, especially in South China.

A:    There will be no fee required to join the scheme.  All Hong Kong and Chinese students who have accepted the offer onto one of the WMG full time MSc courses are eligible to join the scheme.

Q:  Where can I get an application form for the scholarship? Can I apply online?

A:    All scholarships must apply online. Students can only apply once.

Q:  Any working experience is needed to apply for the scholarships?

Q:  Are there any age or gender restriction?

A:   No age nor gender restriction.

Q:     Is it a must for the scholarship awardees to return to China to work? Are there any penalties for recipients not returning to China to work after graduation?

A:    Depends on the donors. Different donors may have different requirements on giving out the scholarships. Some may only require students to pass the MSc degree while some may require the students to sign an employment contract / letter of intent with them such that students are required to return to China to work after graduation. For employment linked scholarships, students should refer to the terms as stated in the employment contract if there are any penalties.  However, the recipients may not be awarded with the scholarship money as he/she has not fulfilled the condition.

Q:    What is the amount of the scholarship? When do students get the scholarship?

A:    The number of scholarships is 81 as at end of December 2006. Q:   Can I apply for more than one scholarship?

A:   Applicants are eligible to apply for more than one scholarship. Scholarships are available in the denomination of £2,000 each.  Donors have absolutely right to allocate one or more scholarships to the applicants.

Q:    Any migration policy for students who work for the Hong Kong enterprises?

A:     For students who perform outstandingly, the Hong Kong enterprises may support the student to apply for the ¡§Quality Migrant Admission Scheme¡¨ initiated by the Hong Kong Government to migrate to Hong Kong.

Q:   What document do I need to submit with my application?

A:    Students only have to submit additional supporting documents which had not been included in their MSc applications.
