What is the admission requirement for the scholarships?
A: Students from China or Hong Kong must have already accepted
an offer onto one of the MSc courses offered by Warwick
Manufacturing Group (WMG)
for 2007/2008 academic year
before they can register in the scheme and
to apply for the scholarships.
Q:
What are the selection criteria for the scholarships?
Academic performance?
A: Selection is made by the WMG Scholarship Selection Committee
together with the donors. Students
may be required to attend interviews (in person, by phone or via
internet) and / or to submit further supporting documents. Factors
like academic performance, majors, personal interest and
communication skills will also be considered.
Q:
Do the recipients of scholarship have to sign any employment
contracts with
the donors?
A:
There are
four types of scholarships available:
1) Scholarship only
2) Scholarship + Signing letter of intent
3) Scholarship + Signing employment contract with the Donor¡¦s company to
work at
least 3 months after graduation
4) Scholarship
+ Signing employment contract with the Donor¡¦s company to work at least one/two years after graduation
Nevertheless, all students must pass the MSc course in the
first Board of Examiners for the receipt of the scholarships.
Q:
Do I work in Hong Kong or in China?
A:
Most of
the donor¡¦s enterprises have factory plants in China, especially
in South China.
Q:
Any fees required for joining the scholarship scheme?
A: There will be no fee required to join the scheme. All Hong Kong and Chinese students who have accepted the offer
onto one of the WMG full time MSc courses are eligible to join the
scheme.
Q:
Where can I get an application form for the scholarship? Can
I apply online?
A:
All scholarships must apply online. Students can only apply
once.
Q:
Any working experience is needed to apply for the
scholarships?
A: No working experience is needed. Some working experience may
be an advantage for demonstrating the applicants¡¦ work ability.

Are there any age or gender restriction?
A: No age
nor gender restriction.
Q:
Is it a must for the scholarship awardees to
return to China to work? Are there any penalties for recipients not
returning to China to work after graduation?
A:
Depends on the donors. Different donors may have different
requirements on giving out the scholarships. Some may only require
students to pass the MSc degree while some may require the students
to sign an employment contract / letter of intent with them such
that students are required to return to China to work after
graduation. For employment linked scholarships, students should
refer to the terms as stated in the employment contract if there are
any penalties. However,
the recipients may not be awarded with the scholarship money as
he/she has not fulfilled the condition.
Q:
What is the amount of the scholarship? When do students get
the scholarship?
A:
The number of scholarships is 81 as at end of December 2006.
The number of scholarships may be changed (increase or decrease) as
the time goes on. The
amount of each scholarship is £2,000.
Students will receive the scholarships after they have passed
the MSc degree and successfully fulfilled all the
requirements stated by the donor.
Q:
Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
A:
Applicants are eligible to apply for more than one
scholarship. Scholarships are available in the denomination of
£2,000 each. Donors
have absolutely right to allocate one or more scholarships to the
applicants.
Q:
Any migration policy for students who work for the Hong Kong
enterprises?
A:
For students who perform outstandingly, the Hong Kong
enterprises may support the student to apply for the ¡§Quality
Migrant Admission Scheme¡¨ initiated by the Hong Kong Government to
migrate to Hong Kong.
Q:
What document do I need to submit with my application?
A: Students only have to submit additional supporting documents
which had not been included in their MSc applications.
Q:
Do I have a second chance for interviewing for a scholarship
if I reject the offer of the first donor?
A:
We reserve the right to allocate students who reject the
first offer for a second interview. Students who do not accept the
terms and conditions provided by the first donor may have a chance
for second interview given the condition that there are scholarships
remaining after the first round of interview.

What are the details of the job placement scheme?
A:
There are 2 main areas:
1) Students may have the opportunities to apply for the job vacancies
provided by the enterprises before they take up their courses in UK.
2)
Career talks and interviews may be arranged during students¡¦ studies at
WMG.
Q:
How can I enroll in the job placement scheme?
A:
Students who have accepted our offers are automatically a
member of the scheme.
